7 Tips for Memorial Day Events

Memorial Day is a time to honor those who gave all to fight for our freedom. Getting together with friends and family has been a tradition on this May weekend.
Memorial Day weekend has become the ‘unofficial’ start of summer.  Here are some ideas to help your event scream, “HELLO SUMMER!”
While eating tasty food and yummy drinks is a big part of the holiday you need more than a checkered tablecloth to throw a great outdoor party.



Enjoy these 7 tips for fun planning:
1.     If the weather allows, a BBQ is a great plan for your menu.  Preparing different meats such as hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, kabobs, and even add some ribs! For side dishes you can go simple with pasta salad, cole slaw, macaroni salad, corn on the cob, and breads. Don’t hesitate to extend the invitation for guests to bring a favorite food of their own. This will include your guests in the fun and allow more variety all while staying on budget.  
2.     Decorations are very important for an outdoor BBQ. Don’t forget the American flags and consider adding streamers, bandanas, decorative lights, balloons, flowers and banners.
3.     Beverage coolers are necessary for water, soda and alcohol (for the adults, of course). An extra cooler for uncooked foods is important.  Try a kiddie pool or raft filled with ice for a great salad and punch buffet!
4.     Chairs, tables, and buffet table rentals are essential for the guests and for the food/dessert.
5.     Plastic utensils, plastic cups and plates can be purchased for your local party at a dollar store near you. Aim for colors of red, white and blue to keep with the Memorial Day theme.
6.     Fun group activities are always a party pleaser to keep all ages entertained. Lawn games are great for all ages and can bring friends and family together.
