Your Sweet 16 Celebration Event Guide

A Sweet 16 is a very special party in young girl’s life.  It’s so much fun when you work to represent the guest of honor’s personality and interests.

When you begin your party planning before you send invitations, start with choosing a location.  Will you host in a banquet hall or raw space?  Is the best fit for the party your home? Depending on your budget and the amount of guests you will be inviting, plan enough room for the guests to mingle and enjoy their time dancing.

The menu for your event should include food that everyone will be likely to enjoy. Research various caterers to find which might work the best for the event and your budget.  Ask for their suggestions for a little extra creativity.

Next, think DÉCOR. A potential party theme could take your party to the next level! Some themes require additional items such as specialty dishware, extra chairs, tables, a red carpet, staging, red ropes and stanchions, wall and ceiling lighting or if the event will be at your home, you’ll definitely need a dance floor and if you’ll be hosting outdoors-a tent.  Many of these items are available for rent, so, you won’t need to pay the cost of purchasing or storing after the event.  Fun themes to consider are Under the Sea, Hollywood Sweet 16, Hawaiian Luau, Winter Wonderland, and Dress to Impress etc. For more theme ideas check out www.pinterest.com

When you find your party theme, it will be fun to match the linens and additional decorations accordingly.

Work with an event planner or friend on a written timeline for your event to help your event run smoothly and efficiently.  The timeline should include the times from the beginning to the end of the event. Any event activities should be included in your timeline to be sure you fit in all the fun while allowing guests enough time to mingle and dance.

Don’t forget to send invites and let your guests know you are looking forward to their arrival.  Be sure to follow up and collect RSVP’s.
